WHAT ARE THE APPLICATION AREAS OF PRP?

PRP injections are used in the treatment of a range of conditions and ailments. Some of the most common areas where PRP is employed include:
Hair loss: PRP injections can be administered to the scalp to promote hair growth and prevent hair loss. Research has shown that PRP injections are effective in treating androgenic alopecia, also known as male pattern baldness. Particularly in cases of genetic hair loss in men, significant results can be achieved. PRP can also be combined with hair mesotherapy.
Tendon injuries: Tendons are tough, thick tissue bands that connect muscles to bone. Tendon healing is often slow after injuries. PRP injections can be used to treat chronic tendon problems such as tennis elbow, Achilles tendonitis in the ankle, or chronic tendon issues in the patellar tendon in the knee, which may involve pain or inflammation.
Postoperative repair: PRP injections are sometimes used to repair torn tendons or ligaments, such as the rotator cuff tendon in the shoulder, after surgery.
Osteoarthritis: PRP can be injected into the joints, such as the knees or hips, of patients with osteoarthritis. According to a limited number of studies, PRP injections have been found to be more effective in the treatment of osteoarthritis compared to hyaluronic acid injections.
Skin rejuvenation: PRP injections can be used to address signs of aging that occur due to the natural aging process and environmental factors. Positive effects may include increased skin elasticity and reduction in wrinkles. PRP can also be a choice for reducing scar tissue on the skin.
Since PRP is a relatively new treatment method, its effectiveness has not been fully established.

WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF PRP?
PRP is generally well-tolerated since it contains substances obtained directly from the patient’s body. However, PRP may have potential side effects due to the injection into the skin. Possible side effects may include pain, bleeding, or tissue damage at the injection site. Patients can typically resume their daily activities immediately after the procedure.

WHEN DOES THE EFFECT OF PRP TREATMENT APPEAR?
Generally, positive effects start to become noticeable after 1 to 10 days. The actual effectiveness is typically observed after 3 to 4 sessions performed at regular intervals. The ideal interval between sessions is 10 to 15 days.

WHO SHOULD NOT RECEIVE PRP TREATMENT?
PRP treatment should not be administered to individuals with platelet dysfunction syndrome, critical thrombocytopenia, hypofibrinogenemia, hemodynamic instability, sepsis, those on anticoagulant therapy, individuals with infections in the injection site, and those with acute or chronic infections.
